We had another easy start to the day as we left at 10:00 am. This is almost unheard of on tour but we weren't complaining. We headed up the coast on a breathtaking drive along the Adriatic Sea. We travelled in the same direction that we went yesterday when we visited Kotor. Rather than having to drive all around the fiord we took a ferry across and saved us many miles.
We stopped in a lovely little seaside village called Herceg Novi where we had free time to explore and grab some lunch. Low and behold, there was a castle perched up on the hill and I just knew that it would offer a good view from up there! So, Carl, Roy, myself and Grace, rather than Ron, made the trek up to the castle. It certainly did give us a great view!
After lunch we drove to the border, said goodbye to Montenegro and hello to Croatia. We had another hour drive to reach Dubrovnik. As we got close we had beautiful views of the city from the bus!
We arrived at our hotel at 2:30 and we were in awe! We are staying at this magnificent hotel overlooking the sea and each room has a lovely view! We were happy to spend the afternoon relaxing. Although it was windy (first day of wind) we found a spot to lay in the sun by one of the pools and soak up the view.
We were supposed to take an optional excursion that included a boat ride and dinner on the beach but, due to the wind, it got cancelled. Instead we had a lovely dinner at the hotel. There is a sidewalk that runs from our hotel for several kilometres along the shore so we went for long walks before and after dinner to help offset the "too much eating and drinking" that we have done on this trip!!
Tomorrow we get to explore Dubrovnik and we are really looking forward to it!!
